YOSUKATA 17’’ Wok Spatula and Ladle

I recently picked up the YOSUKATA 17-inch Wok Spatula and Ladle set to pair with my round-bottom wok at home. If you want a quick answer: this set is built like a tank, keeps your hands away from high heat, and makes stir-frying much easier.

Here is my honest take after using them on high heat.

First Impressions and Build

Right out of the box, both tools feel solid. They are made from one solid piece of 304 stainless steel, so there are no seams where food or water can get stuck.

  • Reach: At 17 inches long, they keep your skin well clear of hot oil splatters and rising steam.
  • Feel: The metal has a smooth, satin finish with no sharp edges.
  • Storage: Both handles have cutout holes, so I can hang them right next to my stove on standard S-hooks.

How They Perform on the Stove

If you cook stir-fry on a standard US gas range or an outdoor burner, standard short spatulas just do not cut it. These long tools give you the leverage you need.

  • The Spatula (Chuan): The curve of the blade matches standard 14-inch woks. It scoops right along the sides to flip meat and toss greens without spilling over the rim.
  • The Ladle (Hoak): The deep bowl holds just the right amount of broth, oil, or sauce. It makes adding liquids quick and precise.
  • Heat Handling: Even when tossing food over high heat, the handles stay cool to the touch.
  • Cleaning: Both go straight into the dishwasher with no rust spots or bending.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Not for Non-Stick Pans: Because they are solid steel, they will scratch Teflon or ceramic coatings. Use them only on carbon steel, cast iron, or stainless steel woks.
  • Storage Length: At 17 inches, they might be too long to lie flat in standard kitchen drawers, so plan on hanging them.
